The entry to the women's church.
Laura and I making our 3 wishes at St. Kevin's cross... apparently if you do as we did, your wishes will come true. I'll let you know ;)
So today, as you can see, we were in Glendalough. This is an ancient Irish monastery. An important founder was St. Kevin (spelt Chaomhim in Gaelic). Another interesting Gaelic word I learned today was Anamchara. This means soul friend, and it is the idea that everyone has a soul friend, who serves as a companion and an inspiration along life's journey. Don't worry, you can pick anyone you want, even someone you've never met!!
It was quite a bit more rainy today, and I wasn't really prepared for the weather... but I have now learned my lesson. Irish weather is very unpredictable, and just because it is sunny in the morning does NOT guarantee sunshine for the remainder of the day! I'm hoping to obtain the Irish mindset of "Well, of course its raining, it makes no difference anyway!"

you are my anamchara.
ReplyDeleteI miss you! LOVE the pics!! (new camera???)
